Do you think everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live? We do at Link Housing, and we have been working to achieve this through community housing since 1984. We provide affordable housing, social housing, housing assistance and specialist disability accommodation to help people across NSW to find a place they can call home.
However, more than ever before, people from all walks of life are struggling. Many Australians now simply can’t afford to buy a house or rent in the area that they live and/or work.
We believe that the government can do more to help, and this is why we partnered with the Everybody’s Home campaign. Everybody’s Home is calling on our government to make our housing system better and fairer for everyone. The campaign is lobbying to achieve this through:
If you want to show your support, you can sign the petition and let our leaders know that we are calling on them to fix our housing system. As Everybody’s Home puts it:
All housing problems are connected. Renters, home-buyers, people struggling to find a safe roof over their heads – what happens to one of us, affects everybody.
In March 2019, alongside the Everybody’s Home campaign, Link Housing attended the Sydney Town Hall March Assembly. The March took place in the lead up to the 2019 NSW State election to campaign both sides of government to do more to end homelessness in NSW and provide safe and sustainable housing to those on low incomes. More than 2,500 people attended from over 200 community organisations – making it Australia’s biggest public event ever held about the issues of housing stress and cost of living.
