COVID-19 safety update – September 6

September 7, 2020

Link Housing is taking steps to remain vigilant and keep our staff, tenants, clients and the community safe during this pandemic.

As a registered COVID Safe business, we take the health and well-being of our tenants and staff very seriously and are closely monitoring the NSW Health advice and following government guidelines.

While our offices remain open, we encourage you to contact us via phone, email or through our website for help. If you answer yes to any of the following questions, please don’t visit our offices without contacting us first:

— Do you have confirmed or suspected COVID-19 (Coronavirus)?
— Do you or anyone in your household have flu-like symptoms?
— Have you been asked to self-isolate?
— Have you returned from overseas in the last 14 days?
— Have you been in close contact with someone who may have been exposed to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)?

If you need to visit one of our offices, please note an appointment is required and a staff member will ask the questions above.

At our offices we are enforcing social distancing guidelines and conducting health checks. Please cooperate with Link Housing staff members on duty.

Latest health advice on face masks

With community transmission occurring in the state, the NSW Government strongly recommends you take extra precautions to protect others. Wear a mask:

  • if it is hard to maintain 1.5 metres of physical distance from others
  • when in high-risk indoor areas such as public transport, supermarkets, shops, places of worship and entertainment venues
  • when caring for or serving vulnerable people
  • if working in a cafe, restaurant, pub, club or other high-risk indoor areas.

Wearing a mask in NSW is not mandatory. However, NSW Health strongly recommends people wear a mask when unable to physically distance, particularly in indoor settings, to keep everyone safe.

You should also wear a mask if you:

  • have any symptoms and are seeking medical care
  • are going to get tested
  • are in the same room as another person when you have symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate.

Tenant Home Visits and Repairs

Link Housing has now resumed our regular tenant home visits which were paused from late March to mid-July.

We continue to take strict safety precautions, following Government health guidelines, and giving tenants the right to defer a visit from their Housing Manager if they prefer.

We are mindful that some of our clients are vulnerable and have health issues. Our Housing Managers therefore check with each and every tenant before confirming a Home Visit.

As part of the ‘check before confirming a Home Visit’, staff will ask a series of questions to determine any risk factors and your comfort level with a visit. At this time, you can also request that staff wear masks or other Personal protective equipment (PPE) when they visit. Our staff are provided with adequate PPE for single use.

Link Housing has followed similarly strict protocols in prioritising ongoing repairs and maintenance services for our tenants over the past few months. We will continue to do so. Where urgent repairs are required, we will work with tenants to ensure their safety.

If you are a Link Housing tenant and have any concerns about the above, please contact us on 9412 5111 or email enquiries@linkhousing.org.au.

Have you visited any of these hot spots?

We also advise of the COVID hot spots in Sydney and urge you to follow these instructions if you have visited any of the following places.

However, please don’t rely on our information alone. Link Housing will only be providing information on hot spots every so often.
